Last updated: May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information. We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable British Columbia privacy legislation.
"Personal information" means information about an identifiable individual. By using this website or providing information to us, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
Accountability
We are responsible for personal information under our control. We have designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable for our compliance with this policy. You can reach our Privacy Officer using the details in the Contact Us section below.
What Personal Information We Collect
We collect only the information we need for the purposes described in this policy.
Information you provide to us
- Inquiry and contact forms (general contact, meetings & events, and weddings): your name, email address, phone number, company or partner name where applicable, event type, preferred dates, estimated guest count, areas of interest, and anything you include in your message.
- Pinnacle Club sign-up: your name and email address.
- Reservations: bookings are processed by our third-party reservation provider (SynXis / Sabre Hospitality). Information you enter to book, such as your name, contact details, stay dates, and payment information, is collected and handled by that provider under its own privacy policy.
Information collected automatically
- Technical and usage data such as your IP address, approximate location, browser and device type, the site that referred you, pages viewed, and navigation activity, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
- You do not need to create an account or provide personal information simply to browse the site.
Why We Collect It
We collect, use, and disclose personal information for the following purposes:
- To respond to your inquiries and follow up on event, wedding, and reservation requests;
- To provide and administer our services and the Pinnacle Club program;
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve our website and understand how it is used;
- To send promotional offers and updates where you have consented to receive them;
- To measure and personalize advertising where you have consented; and
- To meet legal, regulatory, and security obligations.
We will not use or disclose your personal information for a new purpose without your consent, unless required or permitted by law.
Consent
We obtain your consent to collect, use, and disclose your personal information, except where the law allows or requires otherwise. How we ask depends on the sensitivity of the information:
- When you submit a form or sign up for the Pinnacle Club, you provide express consent for us to use that information to respond to and serve you.
- For cookies and analytics or advertising technologies, we ask for your consent through the cookie banner on your first visit. Nothing beyond strictly necessary cookies loads until you choose. You can change or withdraw your choices at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the footer of any page.
You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by contacting our Privacy Officer. Withdrawing consent may limit our ability to provide certain services. To stop receiving promotional emails, use the unsubscribe link in any message or contact us.
How We Disclose Information & Service Providers
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with trusted service providers who perform functions on our behalf, only to the extent necessary for those functions:
- Reservations: SynXis / Sabre Hospitality (booking engine).
- Analytics: Google Analytics and Hotjar, to understand site usage (subject to your analytics consent).
- Advertising: Google (Ads and the Google Display Network) and Sojern, to measure and personalize travel advertising (subject to your advertising consent).
- Hosting & infrastructure: Amazon Web Services, where our first-party site data is hosted in Canada (Montréal region).
We may also disclose personal information if required by law, or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with legal process, respond to claims, or protect the rights, property, or safety of our guests, staff, the public, or our company.
Storage Outside of Canada
Some of our service providers (including Google, Hotjar, Sojern, and the reservation provider) may store or process personal information outside of Canada, including in the United States. While in another jurisdiction, your information may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement, and government authorities of that jurisdiction under its laws. By using this site and these services, you acknowledge this cross-border processing.
Cookies & Analytics
A cookie is a small piece of information a website stores on your browser. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, to understand how it is used, and, with your consent, to measure and personalize advertising. Most browsers let you decline or delete cookies; if you do, some features may not work properly.
You can manage analytics and advertising cookies any time through the Cookie Preferences link in our footer. You can also opt out of personalized advertising through Google's Ads Settings and the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page. Google's privacy policy is available here.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, to maintain our business records, and to meet legal requirements. When it is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to securely destroy, erase, or anonymize it.
Accuracy
We make reasonable efforts to keep personal information accurate, complete, and up to date for the purposes for which it is used. You may ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
Safeguards
We protect personal information with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including physical, organizational, and technological measures such as restricted access and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
Your Right to Access & Correction
Subject to certain exceptions under PIPEDA, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to be told how it has been used and to whom it has been disclosed, and to request corrections. To make a request, contact our Privacy Officer below. We will respond within the timeframe required by law and may ask you to verify your identity first.
